IDF launches a new template to encourage online submissions for a sustainable dairy industry
Brussels, 28 January 2010 - IDF has just launched a template on its Dairy Sustainability Website to facilitate and enhance online submissions illustrating the continuous improvements already made and in progress along the dairy supply chain.
“We invite submissions of applied supply chain programs/measures or research that aimed to create a reduction in GHG emissions. In the spirit of transparency and accountability, all submissions will be reviewed and approved by a review panel“ explains Christian Robert, IDF Director General.
The IDF sustainability website hosts a vast majority of information regarding sustainable dairy activity worldwide. It aims at sharing best practices, promoting environmentally focused initiatives and improving overall performance of the dairy sector.
With more than 260 initiatives already catalogued under six primary areas, the Green Paper section on the website lists case studies from different regions of the world with examples of how the industry is doing things such as:
• Emissions reductions
• Energy efficiency
• Transport efficiency
• Reduction in loss of milk
• Resource efficiency
• Life cycle analysis and management
