Dairy Producers Begin Search for Crown

Fresno, Calif., (March 11, 2010) - The local dairy industry is now accepting applications from young women wanting to compete for the District 8 Dairy Princess crown.

The winner will represent the dairy industry in District 8, which is made up of Fresno and Madera counties, as their official spokeswoman. The individual will speak up for the California Dairy Industry when asked to appear at schools, fairs, industry meetings, service clubs, parades, and on radio and TV. The newly selected princess will also participate in a week of training that includes industry tours, presentation training, grooming and personal appearance tips.

Contestants must: be a high school junior to 23 years of age; be unmarried; come from a family that has a dairy farm, works for the dairy industry or has a dairy-related background (4-H or FFA, daughter of a dairyman or creamery employee, milk tank driver, veterinarian, etc.); and must be a resident of Fresno or Madera counties.

The District 8 Dairy Princess contest is sponsored by the District 8 Dairy Princess Committee and the California Milk Advisory Board. The gala event will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Riverdale Portuguese Hall.
